Carved Culture is refining its instrument catalogue with a greater focus on quality over quantity. Rather than continuing to expand our range, we're carefully selecting the instruments that offer the most value, improving quality control and making it easier for customers to find the right instrument.
More Sound. Less Noise.
We reviewed which instruments customers were ordering and which were receiving little interest. Previously, we sometimes kept products simply to avoid gaps in our range. We decided that a larger catalogue wasn't necessarily a better one. Take monkey drums as an example. Instead of offering twenty variations, we began asking which designs were strongest, which sounded best and which would hold up to regular use. We applied that more selective approach across our physical range, removing instruments that no longer served a clear purpose and thinking more carefully about which accessories genuinely belonged with each product.
Instrument Collections. Redesigned.

Refining the range led us to rethink the website's main navigation. Instead of sending visitors to large collection pages and asking them to sift through dozens of products, we began building dedicated landing pages for instrument categories.
These pages bring carefully selected instruments together in a clear, side-by-side presentation. Customers can see what makes each option unique, listen to sound samples where available and move directly to the relevant product without searching through overwhelming catalogues.
More Useful Details for Different Musicians
We also wanted the experience to work for people with different priorities. Beginners may want to understand the benefits of an instrument, how it feels to play and which accessories they need. Producers and experienced musicians may be more interested in tone, sound quality and technical characteristics.
Our redesigned category experiences therefore make room for practical explanations, instrument comparisons and more detailed sound information, while retaining the option to browse the full collection for anyone who prefers to explore everything available.
A Simpler, More Considered Collection
This shift changed more than the appearance of our store. A smaller, more intentional physical range became easier for us to manage and gave each selected instrument a clearer place in the catalogue. The goal was not to offer fewer choices for the sake of it, but to make the choices we do offer more meaningful. For Carved Culture, the change marked a move away from trying to stock everything and toward helping people discover instruments we genuinely believe are worth exploring.
