Carved Culture's journey began on 1 March 2016, when founder Ryan Bomzer registered his first business and started trading on the same day. What began as a small family venture would eventually grow into the music and education brand known today as Carved Culture.
Starting With What We Knew
Ryan and his partner had recently welcomed their daughter and moved into their own home. Looking for a way to support their growing family, Ryan turned to buying and selling secondhand goods—a skill he had learned from his nan, who raised him.
Originally trading under the name Bomzer's Bargains, the business focused on finding value in everyday items and making them accessible to customers. Its early inventory ranged from toys, games, DVDs and clothing to homeware, furniture, watches, vintage pieces and antiques.
Building Something Bigger
Those first years were about learning through experience: sourcing products, understanding customers and improving with every sale. The business did not begin as a specialist music retailer. Its direction evolved over time as new interests and opportunities emerged.
That gradual transformation led to Carved Culture, bringing together musical instruments, creative resources and music education. The founding principle remained consistent: build something useful by offering genuine value.
A Date Worth Remembering
1 March 2016 marks the beginning of the business behind Carved Culture. It was a modest start, driven by family, resourcefulness and the willingness to begin before everything was figured out.
